Smith-Kingsmore Syndrome Inaugural Family Conference

We thank Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) for hosting our first and second Smith-Kingsmore Syndrome Family Conferences! Likewise, we appreciate all of the researchers who gave their time to be with us. We left more excited and motivated to continue blazing a trail to improve outcomes for persons with Smith-Kingsmore syndrome!

We met virtually for the 2nd Smith-Kingsmore Syndrome Family Conference on October 23 and 24, 2021. CCHMC again hosted this event together with the Smith-Kingsmore Syndrome Foundation (SKSF).

Experts from many different specialties presented and answered questions from families. Topics included Autism, Seizure Management and Circadian Disorders. Additionally we heard updates on the functional studies in progress and the Natural History study, and the latest from SKSF.

First Conference 2019

CCHMC hosted the first-ever SKS Family Conference on October 26 and 27, 2019. Researchers and clinicians met with families to share the latest updates on their research and to study the condition. In addition, this was a great opportunity for our families to meet in person for the first time.

Please check out the article on this great first family conference, “Families Converge in Cincinnati to Improve Outcomes for Rare Smith-Kingsmore Syndrome”. CCHMC also recorded the full day of presentations: 9 AM and 1 PM.

We are excited to be working with this fantastic team to learn more about Smith-Kingsmore syndrome.
