Graduated in medicine at the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia (2000), earned a first degree in clinical genetics at the Ramon & Cajal Hospital, Madrid (2006), and obtained a PhD in molecular genetics at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2008). That same year he joined the Centre for Biomedical Research Network on Rare Diseases (CIBERER) as a researcher in the Institute of Medical and Molecular Genetics (INGEMM) at Hospital Universitario La Paz. Since then his work has focused on research in a wide range of rare diseases, with a high clinical and translational component, and with emphasis on overgrowth syndromes and vascular malformations. Since 2015 he is responsible for the Section of Vascular Malformations in the INGEMM.
